Global Missions

Global Missions Committee
First Presbyterian Church
Gainesville, Florida

The mission of the Global Missions Committee is to go beyond our walls, to go beyond our shores, to
give aid, solace, refuge, and to share the Gospel in the service of our Great Comforter. In the name of
our Lord and Savior, our motto: “Hands Across the Sea.”

In various ways and at various levels, the Committee provides direct support to several missions (see
below), but it also helps to support the broader missions of the Presbyterian Church (USA) through
administration of a series of special offerings, including Christmas Joy, One Great Hour of Sharing,
Pentecost, Peacemaking, and 2-Cents-A-Meal. The Committee makes sure the congregation is aware of
opportunities to respond to worldwide crisis situations through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and
Church World Service. Benevolences also are sent to St. Augustine Presbytery, Synod of the Atlantic,
and Presbyterian General Assembly.
